"Make Half Your Grains Whole" conference
April 20-22, 2009, The Westin Alexandria, Alexandria, Virginia
What would grocery aisles, restaurant menus, and pantry shelves look like if consumers really made half their grains whole, as recommended in the 2005 Dietary Guidelines? Whole grain momentum is strong, but our health depends on doing even more. This international conference will bring together scientists, manufacturers, chefs, and government policymakers for special interactive workshops designed to explore the changes needed at all levels of our food chain, to make this goal a reality. Contact Kara Berrini (617-896-4880 or kberrini@oldwayspt.org) for more details.

Latino Nutrition Coalition Conference
October 5-6, 2009, Las Vegas, NV

Latinos who adopt the standard American diet suffer disproportionately from obesity and diabetes. Learn why—and find out how a return to the traditional foods of their heritage, updated for today's lifestyles, can restore good health. This scientific and culinary conference is designed for health professionals, policy-makers, manufacturers and media who want cutting-edge information to help the burgeoning Latino population in the U.S.
